Cold Wax and Encaustic Paintings
2017 - 2020
From 2017 to 2023, I faced immense challenges as my father passed away and my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s dementia. As their only child, I focused all my energy on caring for them, putting my painting on hold. Despite the difficulties, this experience profoundly shaped my perspective and influenced my art.
2016
In 2016, I fulfilled a lifelong dream by opening a gallery, but it quickly turned into a nightmare. Betrayed by friends, I lost everything – my dream, my plans, and my trust. Walking away with nothing, the gallery closed within months of my departure.
2015
In 2015, I had a fruitful year while residing in the serene coastal town of Melkbosstrand, situated in the vibrant city of Cape Town. My days were spent diligently working from the comfort of my home studio, where creativity thrived and artistic endeavors flourished.
2013 - 2014
In 2014, my art spanned landscapes from impressionistic to abstract, influenced by stays in Philadelphia and Cape Town, including small farm towns near Cape Town’s west coast.
2011 - 2012
In 2011-2012, my studio space was merely 5 x 5 meters, with just enough room to accommodate teaching sessions. It proved to be a challenging financial period for me during that time.
2010
In 2010, I had a remarkable year filled with extensive experimentation, particularly focusing on creating large-scale portraits. It was a period of immense growth and exploration within my artistic journey.
