Despite Everything, I Still Bloom
About This Original Artwork
This large vibrant blue abstract with stitched thread is created in oil and cold wax and hand stitched directly through the cured surface. White thread tufts cascade intentionally from the lower section, while blue stitched bars anchor the upper field, creating visible networks of tension and repair.
The surface is layered, scraped back, and rebuilt over months. Color moves between electric blue, flame orange, plum violet, and luminous yellow. Beneath the vibrancy is a field of cool white space that allows the composition to breathe.
This work emerged from reflections on childhood depression, survival, and rebirth. The stitching does not hide rupture. It reinforces it. It anchors it. It grows from it. The thread becomes both scar and root system.
Part of the Threads of Life series, this painting explores how new pathways are formed through persistence. Each puncture through wax required force. Each stitch is deliberate. The white tufts bloom outward rather than retreat.
Designed as a statement artwork, this piece anchors a living room or therapist office with emotional depth and dimensional presence. The raised stitching casts subtle shadows throughout the day, creating movement as light shifts across the surface.
Collectors drawn to tactile, story-rich contemporary abstract art often choose this work not for decoration, but for resonance.
